Sandy Ridge Trail Maintenance Day Finale - with Portland Design Works

Summer is just around the corner... and that means longer/warmer days, less rain and...  excellent riding at Sandy Ridge!

You've got once last chance this spring to give back to the trails at Sandy Ridge, and what better way to celebrate than with our friends from Portland Design Works (PDW). PDW, our sponsors for this day, are coming out to help make this a fun event.  Work on the trails and then hang out for some food and surprises afterwards in the Sandy Ridge parking area.

Please join NWTA and PDW for a Sandy Ridge trail maintenance day, Saturday, May 11th, 2013.

NWTA Honors Two Outstanding Volunteers

On January 29th, the NWTA held its first all member meeting of 2013 at Hopworks Brewery.  This was a special meeting for us for two reasons:

During this meeting our membership elected 5 new and very capable members of to the board of directors and re-elected two directors that have already made tremendous efforts to help guide the organization.

New Milestone in the Trail Development Partnership Program

The Ditch Witch SK755 is the MAIN part of equipment we targeted for purchase using 2012 RTP grant funding (20% of the required matching was provided by a generous donation from Universal Cycles).   Membership dues are what help offset operating costs for running the equipment on various NWTA projects as well as making it available for grant to other partners when they are unable to pay 100% of the rental cost for use of our equipment.

Welcome our new Board of Directors!

This week, the Northwest Trail Alliance elected seven Members to the Board of Directors, some behind-the-scenes players, some brand new faces and some returning directors. Meet this year’s additions!

Universal Cycles donates $15,000 to the Northwest Trail Alliance for trail-building in the Portland area.

Portland, Oregon. 12.07.12

Universal Cycles of Portland Oregon has donated $15,000 to be used to help build trails in the Portland Metro area.  Universal Cycles gave the multi-thousand dollar contribution to the Northwest Trail Alliance (NWTA), a nonprofit mountain bike advocacy and trail stewardship organization and International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) chapter.

In the fall of 2012, NWTA was awarded a $55,248 grant through Oregon’s Recreational Trails Program (RTP) for the purchase of equipment to be used for building trail within the Portland Metro area and region. As part of the grant requirements, NWTA has to provide a 20% match to receive the money, a common stipulation for such funding. Universal Cycles generously stepped up and donated the first $15,000 to cover the matching funds needed by the NWTA.
