The City of Portland is proposing night work to clean a sewer line near your
location (see map on back). This project is scheduled to last up to four weeks
and will be performed from manholes located on SW Macadam Avenue.
Cleaning equipment will move north from SW Sweeney Street and will work for a
couple of days at each manhole.

Construction Method/Traffic Control
The contractor will use a high-powered water jet to loosen material and a vacuum
to extract the material as it’s released from the sewer line. There will be lane
restrictions during the process. Please use caution when entering the work zone.

Noise Variances and Conditions
Portland noise code allows construction from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday
through Saturday. Work after 6:00 p.m. and before 7:00 a.m. and all hours on
Sundays requires a noise variance from the Portland Noise Office. Due to the
large traffic volume on SW Macadam, the contractor must perform this work at
night. Environmental Services will request permission for the contractor to work
from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Monday through Friday over a four-week period.
Work will be intermittent and may not be performed every evening.
