Scappoose/Rocky Point: Trailbuilding, night riding-- both restricted activities on these trails
The Scappoose/Rocky Point trails are great trails to ride. As with any trail system, there are rules in place that govern the usage and create the framework for the relationship between the land manager (in this case Longview Timber) and mountain bikers (NWTA members and the general mtb public). Please read the following note from Scappoose Trail Steward Andy Jansky regarding a couple of important points regarding recreational use of the trails off Rocky Point Rd. Continued access to these trails involves certain responsibilities on the part of us, as recreational users of this private land, and your cooperation is both needed and appreciated.
Thanks,

Scappoose Update: Please do not build trail or do maintenance along the trails. Please to do not take tools, axes, buckets, shovels, rakes etc on to the private property. Our relationship has progressed to the point that we may be able to do maintenance and minor improvements in the future if we discuss it and get approval. At this point, there are no projects, so you should not need any tools out there. The area is well monitored and if you are caught on their property with tools building trail, you will likely get a visit from Oregon State Police and quickly. Ask around, a few people recently got an experience similar to a COPS episode. Spread the word to non-members and tell them not to mess it up for the rest of us.
We will work to get approval for some maintenance opportunities, so if you have ideas please email me and we can develop a plan to present them.
Also remember night riding is prohibited, this is a real easy way to get caught and meet OSP first hand.

Thank you.
Rocky Point Trail Steward

The Banks-Vernonia trail and Stub mountain bike area make for great night rides!
See trail info page for Stub... http://nw-trail.org/wiki
The 10 mile route from Buxton trailhead into Stub makes for a great night ride.
