Ride: 8 Mile & 15 Mile Trails

Start at the parking area at Bottle Prairie*.  Ride up Trail 450 and do the Fifteen Mile Creek Loop, return via Trail 450, and finish with the Eight Mile Loop.

Riding in Hood River County

Most all of the trails in the Hood River County forest are multi use trails unless specified otherwise.

Meaning if the trails are open to moto's they are open to everyone and if the trails are non moto they are open  only to non moto.

None of the trails are mt. bike only and at this time there are no "downhill" only trails.

I am a Mt. Biker/Runner/Equestrian and frequent the trails. I have encountered  several mt. bikers from Portland this summer that did not know our trails are multi use and multi directional.

Attached is an article based on interviews with mountain bikers that appeared in Saturday's Hood River News regarding the proposed "Oregon Treasures" Wilderness Bill. As you can see it is front page news in Hood River and is a solid arguement of our case.

This is a great opportunity to be exposed to some of the best riding in the universe, that the Mt Hood area is known for. Ride routes will be staged out of the Knebal Springs Campground Trailhead.

gorge games super-d / long ride in hood river

i'm planning on racing the gorge games super-d for fun, i'd like to
go out there saturday or tuesday and run the course... anyone else
interested? we could take a couple cars and shuttle back up, or just take one and ride back up.  (that's possible, right, maybe?) 

Buck Creek Trail / Cougar

It was reported to me that this past weekend that a fellow rider (Joni) was riding along the lower portion of Buck Creek (along the creek) and saw a cougar and two cubs on the trail. She was lucky to see it from a distance. It hissed at her but didn’t make any advance. She put her bike over her head and walked down one of the nearby cutoffs to the road…That would be enough to get your heart racing!

Riding Post Canyon on Sunday

me and two buddies are planning to ride post canyon on sunday the 22nd. is anybody else interested in hitting the trails? we are not shuttling and are riding more cc than free.... furthermore i am not 100% familiar with the area....we might get lost.
